OUR JOURNEY

How We got Here

Saltspring Island, BC
OUR VALUES

Through our unconventional approach to mussel farming, fueled by an insatiable curiosity for innovation and an unwavering commitment to quality, we've achieved results that surpass even our wildest dreams!
The 90's
Getting Started
Our journey began with a discovery during a 1996 diving expedition near Saltspring Island. We found a unknown bed of Mytilus gallo provincialis mussels. In 1997, this discovery paved the way for the first-ever British Columbia aquaculture licence for these gourmet sought after mussels.

Late 90's
Innovating
In 1998, we established a small hatchery on Saltspring Island, dedicated to developing spawning, nursery, and grow-out techniques. We take pride in being the only commercial mussel hatchery of its kind globally, a testament to our commitment to innovation.
2000's
Break Through
In 2005, our hatchery team achieved a significant breakthrough, creating a hybrid of the "Gallo" and Mytilus edulis Mussel. This hybrid combines the best qualities of both varieties, showcasing amazing meat fill and an array of exquisite shell colors.
